The Horizons Project As a child living in the ghetto of East Baltimore, Lloyd Marcus' dad took him and his four younger siblings to a down town movie theater, which had recently begun admitting blacks, to see The Sound of Music. The experience broadened Marcus' horizons. He left the theater remembering and singing every song. “I was the only kid in my neighborhood singing Edelweiss” said Marcus.
The Horizons Project was launched March 5, 2009 at River Springs Middle School, Orange City, Florida with a musical presentation for 450 students. Lloyd Marcus opened the show singing an upbeat song titled, The Sky's the Limit, which excited and encouraged the kids to go for their dreams. The Horizons Project is coordinating with Bethune Cookman Performing Arts Center to bring a 40 kids dance group from Deltona to see a professional dance performance. The Horizons Project is an outreach program of the Deltona Arts & Historical Center, a 501 c3 non-profit. Grant funding and contributions are needed.
